Learn To Perform Improv Comedy

THE FACULTY LOUNGE WITH WILL HINES, MAY 11 @ EL MUSEO

Since 2009, we have taught improv to thousands of people from all walks of life. We have led workshops for The O’Keeffe Museum, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Public Schools, Rancho La Puerta, and General Electric (GE).

We have been featured by Santa Fe Reporter, Santa Fe New Mexican, The Magazine, KTRC, and Santa Fe Magazine. Our Community Programs, including our Teacher Training Initiative, are funded by donors and a grant from the city of Santa Fe.

SHOWS

Come see our students improvise at our theater space in the Rufina/Siler district to get to know our community and have a fun evening. Plus, keep an eye out for when our mainstage team The Faculty Lounge performs – those shows sell out fast!

Classes

We have integrated techniques from professional comedy, academic psychology, and business communication. The result is that you don’t just learn how to perform successfully on stage – what you learn in our program transfers to your life off-stage as well.

Master Classes

Our Masterclass series is a chance for you to do a deep dive into a particular facet of improv with renowned guest artists.

People

Our improv teachers are experienced theater educators, professional improvisers, and
working actors with credits in theater, TV, and film.

WILL HINES MASTERCLASS: PULLING PREMISE BASICS

WILL HINES MASTERCLASS: PULLING PREMISE BASICS

Give a monologue and initiate a premise. It’s easy until it’s not. We will go over some solid strategies (one step beyond, analogous, using a character), problems to avoid (don’t forget the why) and things that are different than non-premise improv (Yes, you can tell the other person who they are). Once the scene gets going, it’s easy. Get sharp at this very useful tool and approach.
